![]() Robin even mentioned that something seemed not right there in Sam’s room in the Phi base but I couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. Just “k I’ll help you where’s the teleporter?” No sadness, no anger, no “my sister would still be alive if not for you”. The thing that pissed me off was how nonchalantly Robin just accepts Al-An’s confession of his responsibility for the outbreak, and the eventual death of her sister. She likely was on her way back out to get the antidote so she could neutralize the virus then destroy the site when she alerted Parvan (he probably saw her on the cameras and went to investigate), and based on the PDA, it seems like hitting the detonator was the only way to stop Parvan from stopping her. Thinking it over again, I wonder if Sam made the antidote and hid it nearby so she could then go plant the explosives in advance. At the very least, Al-An was researching Kharaa for a cure previously and felt responsible for the virus even being there (and uncontained, after the sea dragon damaged the precursor research facility) This is my head canon now: I personally think he was suggesting to Sam that she do something about Alterra’s efforts with the virus. The endgame conversations with Al-An after fabricating his body reveal that he was responsible in some capacity for that entire chain of events. By injecting it with the antidote, Robin actually neutralized the last know remaining source of the virus on the planet, and got closure knowing that she completed the task Sam died trying to complete, stopping Alterra from coming back later and harvesting more to continue the research. However, Sam miscalculated and used way too many explosives, causing a cave in that killed her and Parvan who was trying to stop her (he was security for the excavation site).Īs far as we know, since Ryley neutralized all the Kharaa by the end of the first game, the only remaining known samples of the virus were living in the carcass of the frozen leviathan. Perhaps the antidote only worked on something that was already infected - more of a cure than a preventative measure. Sam eventually decided to take things further and tried to blow up the site surrounding the frozen leviathan, but there’s no real indication as to why that was her chosen method to neutralize the virus. Sam told Marg about the virus mutation eventually and Marg convinced her to neutralize the living samples. This part I wound up piecing together from the wiki. ![]() I was completely confused when I applied the antidote and Robin said something like: “I have closure, now that I have found out what happened to my sister.” My reaction was: “You did? How? What happend to her?” That bit of dialog even plays before finishing Marguerit’s story. Sam was a robotics tech and found out from Danielle that Alterra was researching and trying to mutate Kharaa. ![]() The idea to plant the explosives may have been somehow suggested to Sam by Al-An’s consciousness, who knew about the infected frozen leviathan and was attempting to contain the virus. Robin even mentioned that something seemed not right there in Sam's room in the Phi base but I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary.įrom what I could piece together, based on what I was able to piece together. I'm really wondering if the missing information is still hidden somewhere. This does not explain what happend or why she died! The best guess I have heard so far is that she messed up with the explosived and killed both herself and Parvan (?) but honestly, that's just super lame at least if that's the 'big mystery' that the player has to piece together themselves. ![]() ![]() Unfortunately, getting that PDA with Sam's and Marguerit's dialog does not explain what happend to Sam either! Sam's plan was to use the antidote and then bomb the site.
